Argos Rescue continues to receive numerous calls and requests from overcrowded New Mexico Shelters to take in elderly, medically fragile, or unadoptable shelter dogs. As an adoption based rescue, this has been challenging for us. We will NOT let these sweet souls live out their last days alone, scared and cold in the concrete kennel of the shelter.
To meet the challenge and provide the love, comfort, and medical care that these dogs deserve ,we have created a hospice program, “LOVED at LAST” .
The “Loved at Last” foster program relies on hospice fosters. Our hospice fosters open their hearts and homes to special dogs to give them the end of life that they deserve. The dogs will live out the remainder of their lives in a loving hospice foster home. Argos Rescue will provide medical care and all of the necessities to keep these special hospice dogs comfortable until its time to let them go…..
No matter how many times we’ve had to say goodbye, it doesn’t get easier. Fostering a hospice dog takes extraordinary people with extraordinary strength. People that are selfless, that love these dogs fiercely, and that have unlimited compassion. As a hospice foster you will have heartbreak. You will also have an exceptionally rewarding experience knowing that you gave a pup the most love, care, and compassion in their last days.
If interested in becoming a “LOVED at LAST” Hospice foster home please submit the application found below.
While interested in our “LOVED at LAST” hospice program, we understand that many people do not have the ability or the emotion to commit to foster a hospice dog. For this reason we have expanded our program to allow a person or family to sponsor a hospice dog. Your sponsorship is used to provide medical care and all of the necessities needed to keep these dogs comfortable for the remainder of their lives.
Sponsor a hospice dog for a few weeks, a month, or however long you choose. A little goes a long way. At Argos Rescue we do everything possible to ensure that when it’s their time, our hospice dogs cross over surrounded by love and in peace.
Please consider donating to help care for one of our hospice dogs.
