Smitty is the perfect example of black dog syndrome .. a documented phenomenon in which black dogs are passed over in shelters for adoption in favor of lighter-colored animals. Smitty came to us on his euthanasia day from a southern NM shelter. Seeing the videos of this pup taken by shelter volunteers was proof that this boy deserved a second chance.
Smitty is a 2-1/2 year old black lab mix with the most endearing personality. It’s obvious he loves human attention and is very gentle asking for it. He’s playful and gets along with other dogs. He knows basic commands, sit is his favorite, and is very polite when taking treats. This boy will make someone a great companion.
