Obi came to Argos from a NM shelter on January 2nd of this year as a “forced surrender”. Obi had been hit by a car and his owners had left him to languish with a broken leg for nearly 2 months until the authorities stepped in.
We took Obi to our vet partners and assessed his injuries. Obi’s femur had a complete break and with the advice of the surgeon, we opted for FHO surgery over amputating in order to save his leg. The surgery was successful.
Obi is now 7 weeks into his recovery and doing VERY well. He is a beautiful 14 month old Black Labby boy. He’s calm, sweet, attentive, treat driven(he’s a lab), crate trained, great in the house, and gets along well with other dogs. Obi has stolen our hearts.
Obi’s prognosis is great. He is still recovering, learning how to walk on that leg again, and gaining muscle mass. He may always have a slight limp but then, none of us are perfect.
