Evie came from a hoarding situation and was left at the shelter with 2 other dogs, back in June. They were placed unavailable for adoption at first because they were so incredibly shut down and unable to function.After a month, she was moved back to the adoption kennels, but this was no place for her to show the beauty hidden inside her. At only 10 months old, she refused to make eye contact with humans and remained stiff as a board alone in the corner. Her sweet eyes & sad soul stole the hearts of one of our volunteers. Evie is in a foster home with multiple dogs, kids, and a cat. She has made incredible progress. It seems Evie has never had human interaction before. She stayed hidden in the corner for quite sometime & she has been slow to trust. Her spirit has come alive now and she wants to be everywhere you are & her tail wags constantly, but she is still hesitant to fully relax & easily let you love on her. She does great with other dogs of all sizes, cats, and she even has a special love for her mini pig pal She will need a home with at least one other dog, as they have been imperative to building her trust. She has now learned to have fun playing and that not all humans are so bad. Evie needs the right person to give her the love and patience required to help her along the way…She is already a completely different dog in the short time she has been out of the shelter. She now comfortably eats with her doggy pack, she makes eye contact and has a silly little underbite smile, she has progressed from hiding her her crate to sneaking her snoozes on the couch, and even runs up to give a quick kiss to your feet. To see the joy coming alive in her is priceless.
