About Fostering
Fosters are critical volunteers in ARGOS, A Shelter Dog Rescue. Our volunteer fosters enable us to save homeless dogs living in local shelters by placing them in temporary foster homes. By being a foster you can provide a warm, loving environment to a rescue dog helping them to heal, grow and flourish. As a foster parent you provide the dog with companionship, food, toys, security and lots of love. Your participation in this program truly saves these rescue dogs and prepares them for placement in their forever homes. Argos Rescue provides all supplies and medical care for your foster dog. You supply the love and care.
Please consider opening your home and heart to an ARGOS rescue dog.
The process is simple:
- Complete and submit the application below.
- An ARGOS rescue volunteer will contact you for a brief interview and to schedule a home visit. This will enable us to assess the appropriate dog for you. We make every effort to match our dogs to their foster homes to ensure a successful transition from rescue dog to family dog.
- We will contact you when we believe the right dog for your home is available, but if you see a dog on our website that you are interested in fostering, please let us know. It is our normal policy to only bring dogs into the rescue that we have foster homes for placement.
Besides providing a loving secure home for a rescue dog, we ask that our fosters provide updated information about their foster dog, if possible attend ARGOS rescue events with their foster, have the ability to take their foster to the approved vet should the need arise and to meet your foster’s potential adopters. Because our rescue dogs will need a transition time into a home, please know that we will provided assistance, education, supplies, and support to our fosters.
ARGOS provides the necessities to keep your dog happy and healthy .. food, medical care and needed medications, crates, collars and leashes, etc. (As a rescue organization we have limited funds so any help you can provide is always appreciated.)
There is no average time for fostering; some dogs may get adopted in two days, some may take a month or more depending on varying factors .. age, breed, size, etc.
We are committed to not only making the time a dog spends in a foster home a rewarding experience for that dog, but for the foster as well. Please consider this life-saving opportunity .. you’ll be glad you did! Should you have additional questions please contact us at argosrescuedogs@gmail.com.
