Meet Pookie, a 9-year-old, 14-pound Maltese/Terrier mix who recently lost the person she loved dearly when her owner passed away unexpectedly.

Pookie is currently working on getting her girly figure back with the help of thyroid medication and a healthy weight-loss plan — and she’s already making progress. 💕

She can be a little shy at first and may scamper away if approached too quickly head-on, but once she feels safe, her sweet personality is obvious. In fact, she’s already claimed her favorite spot on the couch and has happily fallen asleep snuggled beside her foster.

Pookie gets along well with dogs and cats, though she’s more of an independent little lady who likes to do her own thing. Her current favorite hangout spot? The closet. We’re not asking questions — whatever makes this tiny girl happy.
